Jason Owen is an award-winning marketing, strategy and operations executive, entrepreneur, and data-driven growth expert with over twenty years of experience building, scaling, and exiting companies across ClimateTech, FinTech, MarTech, and SaaS.
He most recently served as Head of Consumer at Aurora Solar, where he led the consumer business he originally built as founder and CEO of Heliose, the first real-time shopping marketplace for residential solar in the United States. Heliose was acquired by Aurora Solar in 2024, just 866 days after formation, placing the exit among the top fraction of a percent of startups to achieve a successful outcome at that speed and stage.
Jason is passionate about accelerating America's energy future at the intersection of climate and consumer needs. At Heliose, he led a team that aggregated consumers, installers, and lenders into a transparent, low-cost marketplace that eliminated the high fees historically inflating residential solar prices for American homeowners.
His career spans successes across early-stage startups and multi-billion-dollar organizations, where he has architected transformative marketing and operational strategies to fuel growth.
As COO of HomeInsurance.com, he strategically transformed the company from an ambitious startup into the nation's largest home insurance comparison engine, driving it onto the Inc. 500 list of fastest-growing companies and leading its mid-eight-figure exit to Red Ventures. At Red Ventures, he went on to collaborate on business development with Fortune 500 firms and led marketing for DirecTV, the firm's largest business at the time, driving record profitability.
At Vivint, then the world's largest smart home platform, he nearly doubled inside sales in two years through deep analytics and rigorous execution, earning the Utah Business Magazine Sales and Marketer of the Year award.
At Credit.com, he managed a $100-million-plus marketing budget, led the turnaround of the acquired Credit.com brand from unprofitable to positive EBITDA, and helped shape enterprise-level strategy across a portfolio of prominent consumer credit brands.
As a Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer at Array, he helped frame the operational foundation for a fintech startup that scaled to $20 million in ARR within its first year.
Beyond operating roles, Jason has successfully exited three companies, acquired seven others as portfolio bolt-ons, raised venture capital, secured private equity, and played a key role in restructuring debt portfolios up to mid-nine figures.
His expertise in customer acquisition and performance marketing is grounded in a deep understanding of how marketing investment translates to business and financial outcomes, a perspective that has made him a trusted strategic partner to CEOs, boards, and investors alike at some of the largest VC and PE firms in the US.
Jason serves on boards of companies including Carrus, Quote.com, and Uncharted Supply, and is an active investor, advisor, and mentor to entrepreneurs in technology and beyond. A sought-after speaker and panelist, he has presented at leading industry events where he is known for making the complexities of the modern consumer decision journey accessible and actionable for a wide variety of companies.
Outside of work, Jason is an outdoor enthusiast who spends his time biking, skiing, and trail running in Park City, Utah. When he's not consulting, traveling, or training for triathlons, he's perfecting his fish taco and margarita recipes. Above all, his favorite role is being a dad to his two daughters, Charlotte and Lila.
